Heading South into Mexico

HeaWe are now on the trek down the Baha Peninsula to Cabo and then to Barra de Navidad on the mainland. We left San Diego on Monday December 5, 2011 at 3:00 in the morning. We arrived in Ensenada Mexico 11 hours later and stayed at Marina Coral. It was wonderful to swim in the indoor pool and use the Jacuzzi. We met up with our friend’s Bob and Jody on Ces’t La Vie who we are buddy boating with us down to San Jose del Cabo. It took 45 hours of non-stop cruising to get to Turtle Bay. The great thing about this part of our trek is that we were able to sail, wing on wing, using the Amel head sail pole for 50% of the time. The wind was at our back at 18 knots with following waves about 3-4 feet at 12-14 seconds. A very pleasant ride until we had to change course to avoid running into the Island of Cedros and then encountered choppy seas with waves coming from the side of the boat. We took down the sails and motored the rest of the way. Jim’s sister Lucy is with us and has been a great help with night watches. More to come................
