WE CHANGED THE CHANNEL!!

As we visit different moorages, anchorages, and Yacht Clubs we now call it changing the channel on our view of the terrain. We have spent the last 6 days in the bay at San Pedro north of Long Beach. Four days were at the Cabrillo Yacht Club and two days out at anchorage. We enjoyed the yacht club and met some very wonderful people, who went out of their way to help us. One couple, Marylou and Rick were a lot of fun and even drove us to the Long Beach airport to drop off our son Mark’s van that we used while we were in the area. If we had to take a taxi back from the airport, where Mark keeps the van, it would have been at least $45. The people that we have met while sailing have been one of the treasures of this whole adventure. For the last two days we have been at the Shoreline Yacht Club in downtown Long Beach. There is a small oil drilling island just outside the marina and at night it lights up with colored lights and waterfalls. We were told that the water in the waterfalls is the cooling water from the drilling operation. I never knew that southern California had so many oil drilling islands and rigs.

We will stay here until Sunday and then head south to Newport Beach where we will moor on a dock next to Anna’s friend Lynn’s house. It should be fun, when we looked at it on goggle earth it is very populated and looks congested so it might be a little nerve racking getting in. On Tuesday we head south again to either Oceanside or Dana Point to anchor or perhaps go into one of the yacht clubs. We are planning to be back in San Diego Bay on the 21st to anchor at La Playa. This will be interesting as this is the weekend that the Baha Haha ( A group of about 200 boats traveling together) leaves for Mexico. We are not a part of that but it will be fun to watch the parade of boats as they leave San Diego. After that we head back to Pier 32 National City for a month to do final work on the boat before we leave for Mexico with Jim’s sister Lucyann. We will also be coming back home for 2 weeks the first half of November. More to come later. Love to you all!!
