Turtle Bay-Half way up the Baja
We arrived safe but tired in Turtle Bay two days after a 36 hour trek from Bahia Santa Maria. Out of all that time we only sailed 3 hour and motored the rest. We didn’t want to go too far off a straight line course to Turtle Bay. We may stay here a few more days as we are not in a hurry and we do have internet service in the bay. We will probably leave on Monday and head up to Isla Cedros and then to San Carlos and then up to San Quinteton-we are trying to do some shorter hops to avoid traveling through the night and having to take turns staying awake. Once we get to Ensenada we may stay there for a week to get the bottom cleaned and the swimming pools at Marina Coral are great. The trip up so far has been good-a lot better than expected. Doing the bash upwind and current in July sure seems like the month to do it. We can’t believe how much cooler it is here right now than it was 400 miles to the south and inside the Sea of Cortez. The highs are now about 80 and the low about 60. We even had to get out our long pants and sweatshirts :(. It is feast or famine, but both Jim and I have decided that the sun is better than the clouds. We will head back to Mexico in October. We are checking out marinas in San Diego and will stay there for one month and then possibly head up to Long Beach or so. It will be interesting to be in the States again. Restocking the boat, doing a few more boat chores/upgrades and having fun is high on our list before we head south again.
