A day at the beach in Chamela, Mexico
When we got up this morning we decided to go to the beach and hang out with the locals instead of snorkel the boat to clean the propeller. The pictures to the left are the ones we took today. Instead of taking the dinghy to shore we took the kayaks as we have had a little trouble getting in and getting wet so now we put our suits on and plan to get wet. Mastering the waves and surf break is something that we still are trying to master but we're doing better. The beach here is white and very long. We walked down to the mangroves and there are two crocodiles who live there in the marsh waiting for the fishermen to feed them. The one we saw was named Tequilla :) He seemed pretty happy!! We found a RV park where there are many Canadians who travel down here every year and love it. It seems that we meet more and more Canadians who believe as we do that all the negative press is only proganda. One fellow we met Robert drove his VW bus down from the Yukon to the southern border of Mexico. We then walked back to the north end of the beach but first we had to explore the town and a few of the hotels. The pics of parots are at one of the hotels. When we got back to the palapas to have lunch we noticed the Mexican Navy had pulled into the bay and were boarding all five of boats that are anchored here. Needless to say we didn't worry about it and ordered our wonderful meal and watched from shore. They appeared to look for us and then went on. It is something that they do for our safety as well as theirs to make sure that all is well with the Gringos. The people on the beach were having fun just like the families at home. This has been one of the most beautiful anchorages we have been too as we feel we are truely seeing the real Mexico where the locals hang out.
