Hualulco an area of unsurpassed beauty!

The best laid plans are soon forgotten and that is what happened with us. We got to Huatulco as scheduled with Lucy but when we started checking weather windows for crossing the Tehuantepec the winds were blowing 30-60 knots for the foreseeable future so we decided to just stay here and enjoy the wonderful anchorages and great city of La Cruceita. We paid for month here and are glad that we did. We have been able to travel inland, view ruins, and go to the Hagia Sophia Botanical Garden. The owner/creator is the tour guide. He names all the plants and vegetation. After viewing many flowers and butterflies we went to a river with a waterfall. It was amazing-crystal clear water and cool. Jim even swam under the waterfall. Check out the pictures of this wonderful oasis on the left side of page! We have also found a Beach Club (walking distance from marina) with a pool that overlooks the water. You could swim there in the ocean but the swell is so big it could be dangerous. Jim of course had to try but I don’t think he will again. Huatulco is the best snorkeling and clearest water that we have experienced in Mexico. If you eve have a chance to come down here check it out on the web. LaCruceita is one of the cleanest cities we have been too and the people are amazing. There are wonderful events at the Plaza on the weekends with music and dancing. Tomorrow Feb 10th we are planning to depart this area and cross the Tehuantepec. It will take about 40 hours cross the 240 k miles to Puerto Maderia (Chaipas). There appears to be a 48 hour weather window so we believe this is enough time. Hopefully the winds will not be gale force and the seas will have swells less than 10 feet tall with long periods (greater than 12 seconds) between the swells. If you would like to check out our the exact location of the Tehuantepec where we will be, go to Google Earth, Southern Mexico and look for: Latitude 15 degrees 40 minutes Longitude 94 degrees and 20 minutes We should be there by Wednesday morning(February 11th). This part of the trip is unknown to us so I am very nervous about it. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We still are not sure what we will do after that. We may leave Liebling at Puerto Chaipas for the summer. But who knows – I just know that I will be home during the summer months as my body can’t handle the heat and humidity. More to come after we cross the Tehuantepec……………………………
