July 2012

Moored at Paradise Village, Puerto Vallarta

It is the middle of July and boy is it hot here.  The daytime temp is around 95 but with humidity and the heat index it feels about 106.  Needless to say it is hot, hot, hot.  I really don’t think that we had any idea about this heat so come next summer who knows where we will be.  We had a wonderful visit with Robin and family for 2 ½ weeks.  Being here at Paradise Village was great for the kids and us all as we were able to swim in pools as well as the ocean.   We did sail down to Barra de Navidad with the intent to stay at the Grand Bay Marina for the summer months of August, September and October but many factors determined that we should come back to Puerto Vallarta.  I guess the biggest reason is that the lesions that I have been plagued with on my chest came back with a vengeance and there are no doctors in Barra to handle atypical cases plus I really needed to see a specialist and have some biopsies done to determine once and for all what these icky things are.  Anyway the long story short of it is that the biopsies came back with a result of SLE Lupus.  I am still having tests done and feel much better now and with the research that I have done so far this type of Lupus is treatable.  When we come home in September I will see my regular doctor and hopefully get this thing under control.

Other than having to deal with this medical issue everything is wonderful in Paradise.  We are moored pretty far into the estuary so there is a lot of marine and animal life around us.  In fact I HAD a basil plant that was full and green that I wanted to make pesto out of but on the morning that I was going to make my homemade pesto I looked outside in the cockpit and saw a 2 foot tail slither away as a iguana jumped into the water and 3/4 of my basil was gone.  I guess I can’t be too mad as I should have made it a few days earlier and these iguanas are such beautiful creatures I just have to chalk it up to experience.  Life is good in paradise even if I have to deal with this medical issue.

Sorry this blog took so long to post.  We are in Seattle now and will post another blog soon.
