Anchored in LaCruz, Mexico

After spending 2 weeks in Barra we have traveled about 130 miles north to Puerto Vallarta and are now anchored in LaCruz. LaCruz is about 10 miles north of PV and has a wonderful but rolly anchorage. We hauled Liebling out of the water and on to the hard on the 12th of April for three days of hard work. It was a stressful but productive time. We decided to haul out because some of the bottom paint had been chipped off or scrapped off by divers we paid to clean the bottom every four or so weeks. We do need to do this cleaning ourselves in the future as much as possible. Hauling out gave us the opportunity to do some maintenance chores that can only be done when the boat is out of the water. We had the bottom painted again and it sure looks good, but realize that the bottom has to be cleaned every 3-4 weeks as the barnacles down here attach themselves to the bottom and it chips the paint away when you try and remove them. I am now going to do the bottom as much as I can with the hooka (under water breathing tank and hose) so that we can keep on top of it before the barnacles grab on. We are now spending a few days just catching up on paperwork and resting. We will go into the marina on Wednesday for a few days to clean the top side of the boat and put the mizzen sail back on as it had a small rip and we had it repaired.
We plan to be here for a few weeks before we head further north 200 miles to Mazatlan and meet up with family at the El Cid Marina. We are about 90% sure that we will spend the months of July through October at the Grand Bay Marina in Barra de Navidad. We plan at this time to come up to the NW for the months of September and October. The marina in Barra is a hurricane hole, we can use their pools, etc., and the price is very reasonable, otherwise we have to go very high up into the Sea of Cortez and it gets hot, hot, hot there and the dust and sand is not something that we would enjoy. I know it will be hot and humid in Barra but we can go out to anchor all around the area. We are hoping that some family and friends will come down to visit us.
Things are going fine but we miss family and friends a lot and look forward to being with our family and friends in the fall.
