Moored at Pier 32, National City (National City), CA

Hopefully everyone is enjoying a warm and pleasant summer. That is unless you are reading this in the Southern Hemisphere. We are enjoying being in the United States and the San Diego area.
While here we are restocking the boat, purchasing tools and household items we were missing. We are also making some improvements to the boat like adding temperature and oil pressure gages to the generator, adding volt and amp meters to the 220 volt electrical panel, replacing a 24 volt switching panel for the computer, replacing burnt out navigation lights, changing fuel, oil and water filters and replacing the high pressure membranes in our water maker, etc, etc.
When we arrived here at Pier 32 we were greeted by our friend Jim Elfers, who we met in San Jose Del Cabo. Jim has been living in Mexico for over 20 years. He has a boat in this marina and visits it once a month or when he can. He was here with his two boys: Brian and Justin when we arrived. We had a great time with his family going to the water park, playing chess and barbequing up at the boaters lounge. We also have another Super Maramu just like our boat moored right next to us. She is a sister ship 7 or 8 year older but pretty much the same as Liebling. We have so enjoyed visiting with them and comparing notes about our yachts. Their expertise and advice has been invaluable. They have added shelves in the forward hanging locker so we now have pictures to compare and pattern our shelves after theirs.
Our friends Chuck and Jan aboard “SV Wind Watcher” sailed down nonstop from Everett, Washington and are now moored only two slips from us. They sailed nonstop 10 days from Washington State. They have decided to stay in the San Diego area for about one year while they work and get their boat ready to go cruising to warmer waters. They have a vehicle down here and have graciously let us use it to run errands and resupply the boat. We have also been checking the local area as Chula Vista and National City are only about 6 miles south of downtown San Diego. On Saturday we went to dinner with Bob and his wife Camilla from “SV Pegasus” who we met in LaPaz but live here in San Diego. We went to the Little Italy district and had a wonder meal at a favorite restaurant.
We will stay here at this marina until the 9th of September then slowly make our way north to the Long Beach area. At the end of September we will meet our friend Peter and a few of his friends to sail for a week in the Channel Island and Catalina. We hope all of you are well in your part of the world. We love and think of you often. Linda and Jim
